New Delhi [India]Nov 26 (ANI): A Delhi court has rejected the bail plea of a man accused of impersonating an IPS agent and entering the office of the Information Bureau ( IB) using fake government stamps.
Metropolitan Magistrate Manu Shree has rejected Pradeep Sharma’s bail request. The court said: “Given the seriousness of the allegations and the fact that this case is at an early stage, this court is not inclined to allow the application for bail as it is likely that the defendant is fleeing. justice or attempts to influence witnesses, tamper with evidence if enlarged on bail.”
“The bail application is therefore dismissed and settled accordingly,” the court said.
According to the prosecution, the accused Pradeep Sharma, posing as a newly recruited IPS officer, had entered the IB house under the guise of meeting an IB officer.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the alleged individual, namely Pradeep Sharma, drove to the IB house in a silver colored car manufactured by Innova which was thoroughly checked. Upon search and verification, it was revealed that ‘BHARAT SARKAR’ was written in front. of the car and ‘GRAH MANTRALAY’ on the back.
Upon further checks, various items were found in the car, including a stamp/seal from the Home Office, North Block.
Appearing for Defendant Sharma, Barrister Manoranjan Kumar, requested bail for the Defendant on the grounds that the charges of cheating are not brought against the Defendant and the other charges are not of a serious nature. He also told the court that the defendant was arrested in the case on November 17.
Ankit Srivastava, the Attorney General, objected to bail on the grounds that the defendant had committed a serious offense by entering the premises of a secret government agency while posing as an agent of the IPS and using fake government stamps – ministries like Home and Defence. (ANI)
