Smart Domain Platform Web23 to Launch Tokenized DNS Services on Hedera, Supported by HBAR Foundation

The beta will launch in August with .hbar smart domains arriving first.

  • Web23 is set to launch revolutionary “smart domain” services and a DNS platform to bring accessibility, utility and security to traditional ICANN Web2 domains and tokenized Web3 domains on Hedera.
  • Announcing support from the HBAR Foundation to accelerate product development and deployment.
  • Going live with .hbar domain names with a beta version of the Chrome extension app in August 2022.

DOVER, DE /ACCESSWIRE/June 27, 2022/ Web23 is set to revolutionize the DNS infrastructure by allowing users to register and purchase Web2 ICANN domains as well as tokenize Web3 NFT domain names on Hedera Hashgraph; accelerated thanks to the support of the HBAR Foundation. Their new interoperable Smart Domain Service makes it easy to buy, sell and manage any domain name with added privacy and security features within one simple platform. Web23 will enter beta in August 2022, starting with offering the highly anticipated .hbar domain names to the Hedera community.

The HBAR Foundation is focused on funding and supporting interoperable solutions on Hedera, which includes cultivating services that benefit the entire ecosystem. Web23 was tasked with developing and deploying a decentralized naming system on Hedera, transforming the way domains work with their revolutionary DNS to DLT platform.

Co-founded by DNS visionary Som Kirann, blockchain veteran Rahul Pandey and domain name

entrepreneur/IT specialist Del Iglesia, Web23 takes a completely different approach compared to other Web3 NFT domain platforms. Instead of just offering the ability to create NFT domains, Web23 also supports traditional ICANN domain names and bridges the gap between decentralized registry technologies and the domain naming system. Web23 believes that Hedera Hashgraph, through its philosophy, design and consensus, will become one of the best DLTs and a clearinghouse registry for the entire Web3 domain ecosystem, extending their Smart Domain service to all channels.

“This partnership with the HBAR Foundation will help our team accelerate product development and foster community awareness. Our goal is to innovate the domain space, build infrastructure, and ensure everyone knows where to access and use the Hedera name registration service. – Som Kirann, Founder

These smart domains, including .hbar, are built into the native L1 layer on Hedera and allow consumers to access designated resources on Web2 and Web3 whenever an address is typed into a web browser. The team launches its beta platform and Chrome extension app to enable wallet support and dApps integrations within the Hedera ecosystem. Once a user’s wallet is connected, Web23’s Chrome extension automatically provides backend APIs and smart contracts to assigned dApps, SDKs, domain name and wallet IDs to complete any transaction. The company is starting with smart and .hbar domains, but plans to release first-party account privacy and security features, social verification tools, and tokenized coupon integrations through their platform down the road.

“The ecosystem is still young, but full of opportunities to be seized. I feel the same excitement at the start of Web1, but with the wisdom to rely on data ownership. It’s a rebirth of creators and developers, working hand in hand with the emerging technologies that will shape our society and the future. – Delfin Iglesia, co-founder

Whether it’s dApps, DAOs, DeFi, or metaverses, data security, protection, and privacy are going to become essential to maintaining an online presence. Web23’s revolutionary platform enables unique optimizations and automatic monitoring; creating whole new ways to protect a brand’s digital identity and health against dozens of threats.

“Hedera has so many key attributes that set it apart from other L1 chains. With such an elegant SDK, it’s fast, scalable, secure and of course inexpensive to create tokens or add new blocks. After solving the trilemma and with so many innovations in the Hedera space, it was an obvious decision to expand on the Hashgraph network. – Rahul Pandey, co-founder

With an exciting vision, a vibrant market, and the support of the HBAR Foundation, Web23 is well positioned to introduce the next generation of DNS infrastructure. What sets them apart is their integration of traditional ICANN domains; unlock new levels of interoperability between DNS and DLTs.
